The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) received a complaint that in 2016, Mr Madalitso
Njilika demanded and obtained MK380,000.00 from Mr Chikalogwe Abudu, a building
contractor who had won a contract to construct two classroom blocks at Kwiputi
Primary School in Mandimba Ward. The contract was funded under District
Development Fund (DDF).
The ACB instituted investigations which established that Mr Madalitso Njilika demanded and obtained MK380,000.00 from Mr Abudu after influencing award of the contract to Mr Abudu.
On 2nd February, 2022, the ACB arrested Mr Madalitso Njilika, former Councilor for
Mandimba Ward in Namwera under Mangochi South Constituency.
He was taken to Court where he was charged with abuse of office contrary to
Section 25 B (1) of the Corrupt Practices Act. He has pleaded not guilty to the
charge. The Court has reserved his bail application ruling to 17th February, 2022
when trial is expected to commence. He will therefore be on remand at Mangochi
prison.
