The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), on behalf of the Malawi Nation, will host the 2026 Regional
Conference for Heads of Anti-Corruption Agencies from the Southern African Development Community (SADC) from 22nd to 24th June 2026 at the Bingu International Convention Centre (BICC) in Lilongwe, Malawi.
The conference will bring together Heads of Anti-Corruption Agencies from across the SADC region, alongside representatives from financial intelligence units, prosecution authorities, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), and other strategic partners.
The conference will be held under the theme “Strengthening Regional Cooperation to Combat Corruption and Illicit Financial Flows: Procurement Integrity, Asset Recovery, Whistleblower Protection, and Leveraging of Digital Technologies.”
The meeting aims to strengthen regional cooperation in addressing corruption and illicit financial flows through enhanced collaboration, information sharing, and the exchange of best practices among anti-corruption institutions. Discussions will focus on improving public procurement transparency, strengthening financial investigations and asset recovery, enhancing whistle-blower protection mechanisms, and leveraging digital technologies to prevent, detect, and investigate corruption.
The conference is also expected to identify priority reforms and coordinated regional actions that will contribute to strengthening anti-corruption efforts across SADC member states and support the implementation of regional and international anti-corruption frameworks.
Expected outcomes include the development of a Regional Outcome Statement and Roadmap for 2026–2028, strengthened cooperation mechanisms for joint investigations and information sharing, identification of technical assistance and capacity-building priorities, and recommendations for improving the monitoring and evaluation of anti-corruption performance in the region.
Malawi is honoured to host this important regional gathering, which reflects the collective commitment of SADC Member States and partners to promoting transparency, accountability,
integrity, and good governance.
