On 10th July 2024, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in collaboration with the Malawi Police Service arrested four immigration staff members and two non-staff members in
Lilongwe. This followed various allegations of corruption which the Bureau had received. The Bureau together with Malawi Police Service conducted undercover investigation operations which confirmed the allegations and led to the arrests.
Those arrested are Madalitso Nanthulu, Wilson Tepeka, Kondwani Banda, Pearson Msiwa, who are immigration staff members and Agnes Master and Pauline Kampala
who are non-staff members.
Investigations on these matters are on-going as the Bureau continues to review and analyse information gathered during the undercover operation.
The Bureau is calling on all public officers to desist from demanding extra payment from members of the public for services which are supposed to be paid for or offered for free.
