ACB ARRESTS THREE SFFRFM STAFF AND ONE ADMARC GUARD OVER CORRUPT PRACTICES RELATED TO AIP IN NKHOTAKOTA

On 16th November 2023, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) received a complaint alleging that Smallholder Farmers Fertilizer Revolving Fund of Malawi (SFFRFM) Salesclerks at Benga Depot in Nkhotakota were demanding extra money from beneficiaries in order for the beneficiaries to buy the inputs. The ACB conducted investigations and established that this was taking place. On 4th December 2023, the ACB arrested the following people;

Gift Mkanda – Salesclerk (SFFRFM)
Maria Chilinda – Salesclerk (SFFRFM)
Lovemore Kandu – Porter (SFFRFM)
Wilson Masanjala – Guard (ADMARC)

The suspects are in Police custody awaiting to be taken to Court. SFFRFM management has been informed of the development so that they make arrangements to ensure that sales of AIP products at the said market are not affected by the arrests.

The Bureau is warning all stakeholders involved in the sale of AIP that it will not tolerate corrupt practices and will investigate, arrest and prosecute anyone found demanding extra payment from AIP beneficiaries.

Resist, Reject and Report Corruption!
