ACB ARRESTS FORMER MINISTER OF HOMELAND SECURITY NICHOLAS DAUSI

On 15th July, 2022, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Mr. Nicholas Dausi over
allegations that he abused his office by arbitrarily approving an exorbitant and
unbudgeted for procurement contract between Malawi Government and One Guard
FZE for the supply of Uniforms and Equipment for Malawi Prison Services which was
initiated by Ministry of Homeland Security headquarters in Lilongwe against public
procurement procedures.

This follows an allegation which the ACB recorded on 16th October, 2020 that the
Ministry of Homeland Security suspiciously procured Malawi Prison Service uniforms
and equipment from One Guard FZE of United Arab Emirates without following
procedures. The ACB conducted investigation which established that the former
Minister of Homeland Security, abused his office and neglected his official duties.

He is likely to be charged with abuse of office contrary to Section 25B (1) as read with
Section 34 of the Corrupt Practices Act and neglect of official duties contrary to Section
121 of the Penal Code.

He will be taken to Court after the Bureau has interviewed him.
