On 11 February 2025, the Anti-Corruption Bureau arrested Vincent Ndovie for corrupt practices. The Bureau investigation established that while working at Mzuzu Immigration office, Vincent Ndovie received K78,500 from a service seeker but gave no receipt. He promised the service seeker that he would assist in acquiring the passport which he did not. When Vincent Ndovie knew that the complainant reported the matter to the ACB, he called and threatened the complainant with unspecified action.
He was taken to Blantyre Magistrate’s Court where he was charged with three counts of abuse of office contrary to Section 25B of the Corrupt Practices Act, theft contrary to Section 278 as read with 271 of the Penal Code and intimidation contrary to Section 88 of the Penal Code.
He was granted bail after satisfying the following conditions:
• To report at ACB offices once every fortnight
• Surrendered travelling documents
• Produced one surety bonded at K2,000,000.00 noncash
• Paid K100, 000.00 cash as bail bond
