ACB ARRESTS SFFRFM CLERKS BASED AT MASASA IN NTCHEU

On 2nd April 2025, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Tshepiso Tembo and Patrick Chisoni, sales clerks’ at Masasa selling point in Ntcheu, on allegation that they were demanding and receiving extra money from Affordable Farm Inputs beneficiaries for them to sell the affordable inputs to the beneficiaries.
Both accused persons were taken to Dedza Second Grade Magistrate’s Court on 3 April 2025 where they were charged with the offence of corrupt practices by public officers contrary to Section 24(1) as read with section 34 of the Corrupt Practices Act. They both pleaded not guilty to the charges and applied for bail. The Court granted them bail on the following conditions:

•Tshepiso Tembo has been ordered to report for bail at ACB offices in Blantyre once every fortnight on a Fridays while Patrick Chisoni has been ordered to report at Dedza Police Station once every fortnight on a Fridays.
•Each accused person was ordered to deposit with the Court the sum of MK100,000 cash as bail bond.
•Each accused person was ordered to produce one reliable surety to be bonded at MK500, 000 non-cash.
•Each accused person to surrender travel documents to the Court.
•Each accused person was ordered not to interfere or threaten state witnesses.

The Court has set 22nd April 2025 for commencement of trial.
