On 13th March, 2023, the Zomba Senior Resident Magistrate’s Court convicted Monica
Mazuwa Kagwira and Arnold Chitenjere for dealing in contract contrary to Section
25C(2)(a) of the corrupt Practices Act. Cyprian Kagwira was convicted for giving false
information contrary to Section 14(1) (a) of the Corrupt Practices Act.
On 29th March 2023, the Court sentenced Monica Mazuwa Kagwira and Arnold
Chitenjere to eighteen (18) months imprisonment with labour. The Court fined
Cyprian Kagwira K400,000.00 or in default serve twelve (12) months imprisonment
with hard labour. He has paid the fine.
The Bureau is warning all public officers to desist from bypassing procurement
procedures as that is an offence under the Corrupt Practices Act.
