On 7th of September 2021, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) received an allegation
that Joshua Bulawayo (GVH Ngalawesa) of Chiradzulu district solicited an advantage
from two Labourers he had nominated among his subjects for a Community Based
Child Care (CBCC) construction project in his area.
The ACB investigations established that GVH Ngalawesa received MK15,000 from the
labourers.
On 29th of March 2023, the ACB arrested GVH Ngalawesa and took him to Chiradzulu
Magistrate Court. He was charged with two counts of corrupt use of power contrary
to section 25 (1) as read with Section 34 of the Corrupt Practices Act and two counts
of misuse of public office contrary to Section 25(B) 1 as read with Section 34 of the
Corrupt Practices Act.
The Court granted GVH Ngalawesa bail after satitfying the following conditions:
• Produced to the Court MK10,000 cash as bail bond
• Produced one surety bonded at MK30,000.00 not cash
• Ordered to report for bail at Chiradzulu Police Station once every fortnight
He will appear in Court at a date to be set by the court for commencement of trial.
